If the problem is merely that the toll box is not emitting any beeps, please click here.

If the barriers at the toll stations do not open automatically, please follow these steps:

  1. Check the exact position of where you attached the Toll Box to the windscreen

Is there generally a dotted field on the windshield next to the rearview mirror? (at least approximately 5 x 5 cm in size)

    - Yes, there is: The toll box must be attached in this area. (If your toll box has been attached outside of this area, please reattach the toll box. In most cases, this will resolve the issue)

    - No, there isn't: Please check whether the windshield has a metallic coating and, if so, whether it has a recess. You can find more information by clicking here.

For vehicles with alcoves, you can find information by clicking here.

  2. Approximately 50 meters before the next toll station, try holding the toll box out of the window until you reach the barrier.

This will allow you to test whether an invisible metallized coating on the windshield is interfering with the toll box's communication.

(Holding the device out the side window directly in front of the barrier to try to establish radio contact has no effect).

  3. If your toll box still does not work, you can contact the staff (using the emergency button), can scan the barcode on the tollbox at the toll station, draw a ticket, or pay on site. (Please keep your tickets and receipts).
In Italy in particular, it is sufficient to inform the staff that you have a Telepass. The toll can then be assigned to your the maut1 Toll Box via license plate number recognition.

    - Please do not reverse out of the lane.
    - Do not register your license plate number additionally online for free-flow systems. Your vehicle is registered here – even if the toll box is defective.

If the windshield can be eliminated as the cause, contact our customer service in a calm situation. Phone calls while driving are not recommended, and your customer number and written confirmation (e-mail) are required to resolve the issue.

Please understand that the most common cause of toll box detection problems is incorrect positioning on the windshield, and our staff will ask a few specific questions that require only a short but accurate answer from you.
