What Countries - What Vehicles? - "Toll Box up to 3 m"

Italy, Spain, Portugal:

Our "toll box for cars and vehicles up to 3 metres high" or "passenger car toll box" works with any vehicle in Italy, Spain and Portugal, regardless of weight and height. At the toll station itself, the vehicle is measured by sensors, classified and the correct price is charged automatically.

Only in France and Croatia there are special requirements regarding vehicle dimensions.

France:

According to the official rules of the toll operators, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, or 3 metres in height, require a toll box for heavy vehicles. However, practice has shown that only the height is measured and the weight is only of secondary importance. For example, a motorhome of up to 4.5 tonnes actual weight and up to 3.05 metres in height can use the toll box for cars, contrary to the official rules of the French toll operators. In this case, the toll box for heavy vehicles would not work and the barrier would remain closed. If your vehicle has a height of 3.06 metres or higher and is heavier than 3.5 tonnes, you can use our "Toll box for motorhomes and vehicles over 3 m high".

Superstructures such as satellite dishes, air conditioning, etc. are not counted as part of the relevant height.

Croatia:

All vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes actual weight can use the toll box in Croatia.

The route network of the largest toll operator Hrvatske autoceste d.o.o. (HAC) is currently activated. The route network in Istria of the toll operator Bina-Istra d.o.o. will follow later.
