Vehicle Classes - Croatia

Modified on Fri, 3 Apr at 8:54 AM

Motorway tolls in Croatia are calculated on the basis of both the total distance travelled on the relevant motorway between the entry and exit points and the vehicle class to which your vehicle belongs.

These vehicle classes are determined by the vehicle’s actual weight, the number of axles, the vehicle’s height and any trailer being used:

  • Class 1A
Motorcycles, including those with sidecars, quads and trikes.
  • Class 1
Vehicles with 2 axles and a maximum authorised mass of ≤ 3.5 t and a height of less than 1.9 m.
  • Class 2
Vehicles with 2 axles and a maximum authorised mass of ≤ 3.5 t, which are over 1.9 m in height and do not tow a trailer, or vehicles with 2 axles and a maximum authorised mass of ≤ 3.5 t, which are under 1.9 m in height and tow a trailer (regardless of the number of axles).
  • Class 3
Vehicles with 2 or 3 axles and a maximum authorised mass of >3.5 t, or
vehicles with 2 axles and a maximum authorised mass of >3.5 t towing a single-axle trailer, or
vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of ≤ 3.5 t and a height of > 1.9 m towing a trailer (regardless of the number of axles).
  • Category 4
Vehicles with 4 or more axles and a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of >3.5 tonnes, or
vehicles with 2 axles and a MAM of >3.5 tonnes, with a 2- or 3-axle trailer, or
vehicles with 3 axles and a MAM of >3.5 tonnes, with a trailer regardless of the number of axles.
